We are open on select dates this holiday season:

November 5, 7, 10, 14, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28–30,                            OPEN 11-4 PM
December 1, 3, 6, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 24, 26–31                         OPEN 11-4 PM,
December 26 through January 1. (Kwanzaa)                              OPEN 5-7 PM.

December 26 through January 1 is Kwanzaa and we are sharing some of those traditions with our community nightly from 5:30 - 7 PM at the shop at 205 Main. 

 

About

Curios & Notions is a working studio and supply shop focused on useful craft, repair, and traditional skills. We maintain, use and repurpose tools, share practical knowledge, and support regional makers. The shop offers vintage machines, sewing notions, and handmade goods alongside spaces for learning and reflection. 

Our studio opens fully on November 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM, though we are active now with a growing selection of materials and workshops.

What We Offer

Curios & Notions is built around small-batch, local goods rather than mass production. The art in-store has all been made by hand by artists that work by piece and with intention. We carry tools, fabrics, and materials with history and purpose. Many items are locally made or restored for continued use.

Subscription boxes, project kits and printable files will be introduced in the coming year. Our aim is to help people repair, reuse, and make things that last.

Classes & Gatherings

We offer hands-on workshops in practical craft and repair, including mending, patchwork, and fiber reuse. Each class focuses on skill-building and connection through work. Family sessions and homeschool enrichment days are also available.

Class schedules are posted at the studio and shared by email for subscribers.

Into the Veil

Inside the main shop, Into the Veil offers private intuitive readings with Julia. Each session combines storytelling, symbolism, and personal reflection. Readings are available in person or online, by appointment or walk-in.

Glamour from the Chart

Style as Ritual — Aesthetic Mapping with Julia

These sessions use your birth chart to explore personal style choices—color, fabric, and presentation—as a form of self-understanding. Each includes a color palette based on your chart and an outline of your key style elements. Advanced sessions include a vision book or studio visit.

Session Options:
Core Mapping (60–75 min) — $195 virtual / $245 in person
Lilith Path (90–100 min) — $285 virtual / $335 in person
Driftless Immersion (3–4 hrs) — $555 in person

Local First, Always

We work with nearby farms, artists, and collectors. We trade skills, use what’s available, and take time to do things well. Every tool, class, and reading reflects the same purpose: to live well with what’s around us and keep useful traditions in motion.

We’re preparing for our full opening with additions throughout the year, including an online shop, seasonal workshops, downloadable guides, mail-order kits, and virtual sessions.
